Thinking About Transferring to LBC? Here’s What You Need to Know

by LBC Marketing

If you’re a college student who’s considering a transfer to Lancaster Bible College, you most likely have a few questions. We get it. And we’re here to help. Here are some answers to some of the most-asked questions regarding transferring to LBC. Don’t see what you’re looking for? Give us a call or send us a text at 717.937.2751 or email us at admissions@lbc.edu.

1. Will my credits transfer?

The best way we can provide an accurate answer is for you to provide LBC with your college transcripts (official or unofficial is fine). We need to see all the college courses that you’ve taken to give you a complete answer. In most cases, students find that at least some of their courses transfer, provided that they’ve earned a C-grade or better in those classes. If you send you us your transcript form, in most cases, we can give you a credit evaluation after 48 hours.

2. If I transfer to Lancaster Bible College, can I still graduate with my bachelor’s degree in four years?

Again, that may depend on how many credits do indeed transfer to LBC, if we have a similar program to your previous college’s program and a number of other factors. As with the first question, the best way to get a complete picture of how long it will take you to complete your degree is by submitting your college transcripts to us.

3. Do you have my academic degree or program?

To see if we have the program you’re looking for, check out our degree listing for on-campus undergraduate students here or check out the full list of 100% online programs here. Transferring from a seminary or graduate program to one at LBC | Capital? You can find that information here.

4. Do I need to apply if I’m transferring?

Yes, transfer students still need to officially apply to LBC. You can fill out an application here.

5. Are the admissions requirements different for transfer students?

The baseline requirements are nearly identical as far as what we’re looking for in our students and the steps you’ll need to take, but there a few slight differences. As we touched on earlier, we will evaluate the credits you’re bringing in as a part of the process. Our minimum requirements for transfers are that students must have a minimum of 15 transferable credits and a 2.0 cumulative GPA to be considered for admission.

6. Do I have to have an associate degree to transfer?

No, students transferring to Lancaster Bible College do not need to have an associate degree in order to transfer. See the minimum requirements above.

7. What if I have fewer than 15 transferrable credits? Am I not eligible for admission?

You are still eligible for admission! Here’s what happens: students who have attempted less than 15 credits at another college will be viewed as an incoming freshman. Your admissions file will be reviewed based on the criteria we use for new students, like your final official high school transcript and SAT/ACT/CLT test scores, along with your college transcript.

""8. What’s the community like on campus?

Life on campus at Lancaster Bible College is a lot like you’d expect – we have award-winning, comfortable and homey dorms, 18 NCAA Division III sports teams for both men and women, cafes that serve local coffee, food and other beverages, weekly chapel services that engage students in worship and Scripture, student clubs and organizations, Bible studies, opportunities to serve internationally and so much more!

Our region is packed with activity too! Check out this blog post on fun things to do in Lancaster County, schedule a campus visit here and check out a chapel service to get a feel for student life by clicking here.

9. Am  I eligible for scholarships and financial aid as a transfer student?

Yes! Transfer students are eligible for scholarships, and LBC even offers special academic scholarships specifically for transfer students.

10. Why should I choose to transfer to Lancaster Bible College?

That’s a great question! And in our humble opinion, there are so many reasons! For more than 90 years, LBC has been committed to our mission to “educate Christian students to think and live a biblical worldview and to proclaim Christ by serving Him in the Church and society.” With more than 50 majors, both on-campus or 100% online, you can find your place in God’s story and continue on the pathway He’s set for you. Plus, numerous ranking organizations have placed LBC at the top of their lists. Check out some of the college rankings we’ve been honored to receive.

Perhaps Mattie (’25), a Business Administration transfer student, says it best: “I think there’s a big difference between saying you’re a Christian and really displaying Christ-like attributes. God’s faithfulness is so tangible, especially in the people [at LBC] – the love of Christ has really just radiated off of them. I was like, ‘This is the kind of school I want to go to, with these kinds of people.’”
