LBC Sends Team to Houston To Rebuild Following Hurricane Harvey

Lancaster Bible College is sending another team to Houston, Texas this spring to work with Samaritan’s Purse in their rebuilding efforts, following the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey in the summer of 2017.

A team of 24 students and staff will head to Texas from March 11 to 17 in the Pearland area. Last September, the college’s trip to the area to assist with hurricane clean up filled up in just 72 hours. “One of the tendencies of disaster relief is for people to respond quickly to the disaster and then move on to the next disaster, leaving the rebuilding of communities forgotten about and left in disrepair,” said Judd Buckwalter, leader of the team and program director of LBC’s professional counseling major. “LBC is committed to being the Head, the Heart, and the Hands of Jesus Christ throughout the disaster response process.”

Each student has committed to raising $500 to cover their expenses for this rebuild effort. “If this is something that stirs your heart,” said Buckwalter, “Please consider praying for the team and if you sense the Lord’s prompting to give towards this effort, do so.”
