Lindsey Blest (’16), a graduate of Lancaster Bible College and reporter at Lancaster Newspapers and LancasterOnline.com, was awarded the Edith Hughes Emerging Journalist Award.

Blest, who studied in LBC’s communication program and graduated in 2016, is a general assignment reporter at LNP and covers a wide range of stories in her position – everything from weather, traffic accidents, holiday celebrations and everything in between. According to the Pennsylvania News Media Association who granted Blest the honor, the award, “encourages talented young journalists to continue in their careers,” and is only open to journalists with two years or less of experience. The nominee was required to submit a letter from their supervising editor, and the winner received a personalized award and a cash prize sponsored by Trib Total Media.

As a student at Lancaster Bible College, Blest founded the institution’s thriving online student newspaper, Focus. The publication remains active and continues to be a creative outlet for other aspiring student journalists as they practice their budding reporting skills.
