Decades of Friendship
9 Friends Impact the World in Missions & Ministry
Homecoming 2021 brought together nine Lancaster School of the Bible graduates, friends, siblings and eventual missionaries and ministry leaders from the 1960s who impacted the globe for Christ. Some were involved in missions in Peru, Brazil, Ecuador and Spain, while others worked locally in area ministries.
From left, Judy (De La Mater ’64) and Chuck Musser (attended ’61-’63), who passed away in February 2023 at the age of 80, met at LBC and served with Youth For Christ for many years in Lancaster and Lebanon, Pa.
In red, Kathy (Miller ’65) Scott works with Bethany Christian Services and was a writer and editor for LNP Media Group.
John R. “Pete” Brown (’64), in hat, served with various local ministries.
Next, Jean (Strain ’63) and Chuck (’63 & ’90) Arnold served overseas in Peru, while Jean’s twin sister, Joanne (Strain ’63) Alban and her husband, Don (’62), served in Brazil. The Strain sisters were nursing students and worked at Lancaster General Hospital while at LSB. After returning from Brazil in 1974, Don began 30-plus years of teaching missions. Today, he serves as a Student Caregiver at LBC.
On the far right, Maryanne (Rutt ’64 & ’84) Sharp served in Ecuador and Spain, and her father, Ira Rutt (’61), earned his degree through evening classes at LSB.
